Layout problem resolved

Ok, so I figured out that for whatever reason, my layout was being messed up by a table I had in one of my posts (or vise versa, depending on how you want to read the situation). It seems as though changing up the layout a bit managed to straighten things out.

My appoligies to anyones friends page that may have suffered from my journals wonky scripting.

Ok, I don't know why, but the coding on my pages is all wonky and is hiding part of the first post of the page... Which is rather silly to say since you may not be able to read this after I've posted it.

But anyway, I'm gonna trying working on the problem as much as I can, but I don't know if I'll be able to figure out what's wrong.

Alrighty, we've got mostly a bunch of icons from GoF with a small smattering of actor pics and one pic from OotP. There are also a couple OotP quote icons in here. After recently rereading the book (I lost track of how many times by now) I was struck by how many times Harry has a smartass comeback to something said to him, so I decided to start making icons out of them. More will follow when I've got more time to work on them. Christmas is a killer...

If you can't tell, my style was all over the place this time and I really hope they all turned out pretty good.

Well, it seems as if I can't leave my journal alone. Yet again I changed the layout and I think I'm finally happy with it.

Poking around at several peoples journals gave me quite a bit of inspiration, and add that to my current obsession with the show Quantum Leap (stupid executives... cancelling it before its time...) This is what happened. I originally wanted to do a chocolate brown and sky blue color scheme, but the grey seemed to want to horn in on brown's territory. Oh well, maybe next time...

Which hopefully will be longer than a few weeks.

Alright!

After toying with this bloody thing, I have it at a point were I'm not ripping out my hair, and that is because I went back to a free account. I normally wouldn't have minded the ads, but damn if they didn't throw everything out of whack!

I'm hoping that before too very long, they will make the ads customizable, in which case I would gladly go back to a sponsored account. I liked what was offered, but I prefer a good looking layout to the mess that I was stuck with.

I don't handle ugly well.

Yep, after toying with my journal for a layout contest, I'm finally getting around to fiddling with my own layout.

So, if you see this place looking like a disaster area, forgive me, but I'm trying out a whole load of new settings on S2, which i have limited experence with.

I'll post again when I have things hammered out as good as they are gonna get.

Well, after seeing that I could upgrade my account to one with the option to have more user pics without having to pay for it, I figured, "Why not?!" I mean, I'd only have to deal with a few ads, right?

My whole layout is completely fucked and I am really too damned tired to attempt to fix it right now. God, it's annoying as hell considering how fucking long I worked to get it just how I wanted it.

*le sigh* I guess that means that tomorrow will be spent either fixing this layout or whipping up a new one and try to get it all straightened out.

I bet you were expecting an icon post, right?

Well... sorta.

I recently discovered the work of a mad-brilliant artist, lberghol. Upon looking at her HP images, I was instantly smitten and had to to do something with them! So, after much pondering, fussing, and going cross-eyed looking for the first pics to apply my touch to, I finally found my first victims. The wedding image I heavily cleaned up and colored in my normal style (though I'm just not sure about it... bah! I'm likely just being über-picky), but the second two, I tried out a style I've never done before as I can't make myself do a "messy" looking piece. Surprisingly, once I forced myself to stop over analyzing every little flub or bit of color out of the lines, I fell in love with them.

So where are the icons?

I actually decided that I would make thumbnails for the pics so that someone could sneak a peak at them without having to click on the cut. How better to kill two birds with one stone than to make the thumbnails icons!

I thought it sounded brilliant.

As a side note, if you take the art or icons, make sure you credit lberghol for her work as the originals aren't mine. And lberghol, if you're reading this, I hope them meet with your approval. Enjoy!

This was the first picture I did. Something about the look on Ginny's face just screamed at me to color it in. For some reason, I just saw Fleur have a royal purple as her main color, and from there I started to think about Monet's paintings... Note to self, don't listen to too much classical music when you're contemplating color design. It does weird things...

After pointing out this picture to my sis, she said I had to color it. Who am I to disagree? I kept it mostly light and muted in it's colors 'cause anytime I tried to make it bright, it looked off to me.

This was the first pic I tried this sort of watercolor look on and I think it looks faboo! You may not think it, but I did the coloring on three layers: The bottom was white, then all the colors, and then the outline set on multiply. That was it... No, seriously, three. Expect to see more along these lines and likely sooner rather than later.

I wish I could weave some fantastical story about how I was off studying obscure languages in some remote part of the world and that my research would make some sort of ground breaking discover that would effect the course of man for millenia as opposed to sitting here and posting in my journal, but I must be honest:

I simply forgot about my journal, or the fact that I might want to actually update the retched thing on the rare occasion.

It's been a while since I posted anything, but I have been mucho busy.

I've been getting out of the house so much lately that I haven't had the time to work on my scarf or paint my room, both of which I've been wanting to finish... Especially my room, I REALLY want it painted!!!

*pout*

Aw well, I'll back to it after my birthday at this rate.

ON the costume front, I actually found a thin sweater that will be great to use for my PoA uniform if it's cold enough. I had though of doing duplicate stitching at first, but decided that it would be far easier to just paint the stripes on, especially since the knit is incredibly small. All I REALLY need is a robe (that I'm gonna have to make), a patch (buy online), and a tie (not quite sure what I'm gonna do about this one).

N-E-Way, enough of my ramblings.

Well, supposedly, the family and I are going to go see Hero (Yay!) at the local theater, I just hope they can decide on a time and soon. I had an idea that I'd like to try and get the doweling, fimo, and a few other minor things to make a few wands for my costume, but, being broke, and looking for a job, I'll have to have my 'rents foot the bill at first... like under $10 for all the materials I'll need is really that big of a loan?

Any-who, if the movie is any good, I'll post about it, though without spoiling anything... or so I hope.

Edit: The movie was fantastic from a visual standpoint, the plot bugged me at times and I'm not sure why. I'm still recommending it though if anyone's wondering.

I hate not being able to sleep at night. Makes doing anything during the day a right pain in my rather substantial arse. I really want to be able to finish cleaning my room so that I can get to painting the walls. I got two different golden yellow colors (one two shades darker than the other) and plan on sponge painting them on my walls from darker at the top to lighter at the bottom (Yes, I am insane and I don't bloody well care! :D)

I think I've finally made up my ever changing mind and have decided that I'm going to dress up as a Hogwarts student in the Gryffindor House PoA style. I've been working on my scarf for the last several days and I'm three trapped bars in. 'The Monstrosity' as it will henceforth be called, should take me about two or so weeks so long as my fingers stop freezing up... I hate having crappy joints... N-E-Way, I'm in the process of finding pieces now so that I'm not in a mad rush by the end of next month. Even waiting this long may have been a mistake. I'll just have to see.

What I've got so far:

Scarf (WIP) = 3 sections in, only ten more to go... oi vay...
Wand (WIP) = Yes, I'm making my own, but only 'cause I'm anal that way. :P
Shirt = I've got a white Oxford shirt of a rather nice quality, but I'll be damned if I'm dying the thing. I might get a new shirt to dye later.
Shoes = I've got two different types of MJ's to choose from, just depends on what I might be doing.

What I'm going to scrap:

Sweater = The fact that I will have the scarf will probably make people think I'm nuts. Living here in San Antonio, Texas, we have, like, one day of cold weather (Ok, ok, two. :P JK), and Halloween ain't it. I would die of heat stroke if I tried wearing a sweater along with everything else.

What I've got to get:

Tie = I'm not overly concerned on this one, though I'm not QUITE sure who I'm going to be ordering from. I'll deal with it soon, though.
Skirt = This could pose a bit of a problem. Finding something that is the approximate color and shape of the PoA skirt, and getting it in a size that would fit me is proving to be a bit of a pain. Luckily, I still have a few places to keep looking. If things get bad enough, I'll go for the right color as opposed to the right cut, because if the color is off, it will be far more noticeable. And, if worse comes to worse, I've got a black ankle length skirt that, with some rolling of the waistband (Thank God for elastic!) and a temporary hemming of the bottom (it's got a little bit of a scalped edge to it) it would work in a pinch.
Robe = Ok, this is the biggie. You can't really pull off the look without it. What I'm doing is trying to shop around and look for the best one I can find for the best price. I can sew one if I need to, albeit with some major alterations seeing as how the only thing small on my is my social life. Heh, I've got a couple emails sent out to people and I'm waiting on replies. Hopefully they will come in soon.

Edit: Well, my plans to have this bloody thing finished by Halloween fell through, whitch is a good thing considering how the night wen anyway. Oh well. There is always next year... Still want to finish my scarf though...
